Results are out!

That’s the WhatsApp message every Grade 7, 9, 12 and GCE candidate waits for every December/January. And the first question after that is: How do I check my ECZ results?

Relax. You don’t have to queue at school all day. ECZ gives you 3 ways to check from your phone in Lusaka, Kitwe, or anywhere.

Important: ECZ hasn’t announced 2026 results dates yet. Last year Grade 12 came out mid-December, Grade 9 + Grade 7 early January. Bookmark this page — we’ll update the date + links the minute ECZ releases.

3 Ways to Check Your ECZ Results 2026

Here’s a quick breakdown so you can pick the easiest method for you:

2. SMS All levels. No internet needed K6 per SMS on all networks Fast
3. USSD Code All levels. Any phone K6 per session Fast

Method 1: Check ECZ Results Online on the Website

This is best if you want to print your result slip. [Free]

Steps for Grade 12, 9, 7 & GCE 2026:

  1. Go to the official ECZ site: www.examinationscouncil.org.zm
  2. Click Results on the top menu.
  3. Select 2026 + your exam: Grade 12, Grade 9, Grade 7, or GCE.
  4. Type your 10-digit Exam Number e.g. 1202200025. No spaces.
  5. Click Submit and your results will show. Screenshot or print it.

Tip: The ECZ site crashes in the first 2 hours because everyone is checking. If it fails, wait 30 mins or use SMS.

Method 2: Check ECZ Results by SMS [Works on MTN, Airtel, Zamtel]

No internet? No problem. This works on any kaboom phone.

Steps:

  1. Open Messages on your phone.
  2. Type: Grade Exam Number Exam Year
  3. Example for Grade 12: Grade 1202200025 2026
  4. Example for GCE: G12 1202200025 2026
  5. Send to 8383 on all networks.
  6. You’ll get a reply with all your subjects + grades in 1-2 minutes.

Cost: K6 per SMS. You’ll be charged even if the number is wrong, so double-check.

Note: This Method works for all grades (7,9,12 & GCE)

Method 3: Check ECZ Results by USSD Code [No Internet]

This is new and easier than typing SMS.

Steps:

  1. Dial *8383# on MTN, Airtel, or Zamtel.
  2. Select ECZ Results.
  3. Enter your Exam Number + Exam Year e.g. 2026.
  4. Your results will show on your screen.

Cost: K6 per session.

4 Things to Know Before You Check

  1. You need your 10-digit exam number
No exam number = no results. Ask your school if you lost it. ECZ won’t give it on Facebook.
  2. Results come out by level, not same day
ECZ usually releases Grade 12 first, then Grade 9, then Grade 7. GCE comes with Grade 12.
  3. Online slip ≠ Certificate
What you print from the website is a Statement of Results. Your real certificate comes to school months later. Schools collect from ECZ.
  4. Beware of scammers
No one can “upgrade” your results for money. If someone DMs you on Facebook/WhatsApp saying Pay K200 I’ll change your D to 1, it’s fake. Report it.
