ECZ Exam Fees 2026 Zambia: How Much to Pay for Grade 7, 9, 12 & GCE
If your child is writing ECZ this year, or you’re doing GCE, you’re probably asking one question: How much is registration?
ECZ hasn’t officially released the 2026 fees yet as of April. But based on last year’s ECZ circular + school reports, here’s what most Zambian parents paid in 2025, and what to budget for 2026.
Important: Prices change slightly by school. Private schools add an admin fee. Always confirm with your school or ECZ Provincial Office.

GCE candidates pay per subject. So 5 subjects x K80 = K400 in a government exam centre.
5 Things Parents Must Know About ECZ Fees 2026
1. Deadline matters
ECZ usually closes registration around May/June for internal candidates. Late registration = extra penalty fee of K50-K100. Ask your school now.
2. Private schools charge more
The table above is ECZ’s fee only. Most private schools add K50-K150 for processing, past papers, and invigilation. It’s normal.
3. GCE is per subject
If you’re repeating Maths only, you pay for 1 subject. If you’re doing 8 subjects, it’s cheaper per subject. Plan which subjects you really need.
4. Exam centre fees for GCE
Some centres in Lusaka, Ndola, Kitwe charge an extra K50-K100 “centre fee” on top of ECZ fees. Ask before you pay.
5. Keep your receipt
ECZ will ask for proof of payment if there’s a problem with your exam number. Take a photo and save it on your phone.
When Will ECZ Release the Official 2026 Fees?
ECZ normally puts out a circular between March and May. We will update this page the same day ECZ releases it.

Where to Pay ECZ Exam Fees
1. Internal candidates: Pay through your school. The school pays ECZ in bulk.
2. GCE candidates: Pay at your approved ECZ exam centre. You’ll get a candidate registration form after paying.
