ECZ Grade 12 Maths Syllabus 2026 PDF – Topics, Objectives & Scheme

If you are teaching Grade 12 Mathematics 2040 or 2044 in Zambia, this is the official ECZ syllabus you need for 2026.

Use it to plan your lessons, schemes of work, and to make sure you cover all topics before October ECZ exams.

What is the ECZ Grade 12 Maths Syllabus?

The syllabus is ECZ’s official guide. It lists all topics, objectives, and skills that will be tested in Grade 12 Paper 1 and Paper 2.

Maths 2040 = Pure Mathematics + Statistics
Maths 2044 = Pure Mathematics + Mechanics

Most government and private schools use Maths 2040.

Tip for Teachers: ECZ sets most of Paper 2 from Calculus, Trigonometry, and Probability. Spend more time there Aug-Sept.

By October 2026, learners should be able to:

1. Apply mathematical concepts to solve real-life problems

2. Use correct mathematical notation and language

3. Interpret data and present it in graphs/tables

4. Solve Paper 1 [short answers] and Paper 2 within time[structured]

How to Use This Syllabus for Teaching

1. Jan-Apr: Cover Algebra + Geometry

2. May-Jul: Trigonometry + Calculus

3. Aug-Sept: Statistics + Revision of hard topics

4. Oct: Past papers + Exam technique
